To develop future MyData based services
Digital Health Revolution drives human-centric personal health data management and re-use by developing the MyData Architecture principles and implementing them in a concrete functional personal health management system. Project started in the autumn of 2014, and is ending by the end of 2018. The work continues in new projects and activities of the partners.

WHAT IS MYDATA?

Digital Health Revolution project participants have actively been involved in defining the mydata principles which refer to usability of data, human centric control and privacy, and open business environment.

According to MyData White Paper the term MyData refers
1)      to a new approach, a paradigm shift in personal data management and processing that seeks to transform the current organization centric system to a human centric system,
2)      to personal data as a resource that the individual can access and control.

Read the freshly updated MyData report (update on July 2018), with DHR members as co-authors, published by Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications here (in Finnish).

MYDATA ARCHITECTURE

The specified MyData Architecture aims to liberate the potential of personal data and to facilitate its flow from multiple data sources to applications and services via a standard and interoperable consent management framework. The architecture has been defined based on the MyData principles to meet and surpass the new privacy related juridical requirements that will be enforced EU-wide.

Digital Health Revolution research team has released a Software Development Kit which implements the core architecture framework functionalities (operator, service registration, MyData service integration libraries for Sink and Source services) and provides an interactive technical walk-through of MyData use case for data re-use by 3rd parties.

MyData Alliance

Deploying the specified architecture into a functional business framework requires fitting with new or existing business models. Digital Health Revolution is increasing the understanding of MyData usage via supporting MyData Alliance, open community of companies and organizations for piloting and knowledge sharing. By joining MyData Alliance  you can be part of nationally acknowledged forum which aims to develop MyData interoperability model for personal data management. There are already more than 20 active company partners in MyData Alliance.

MyData Clinic for the human-centered data modelling

To promote innovation of new MyData based services we have developed a MyData Clinic concept. In MyData Clinics service providers are familiarized with MyData principles and possibilities, iteratively supported in developing new solutions by defining possible service paths and value networks, and analyzing the potential of different business models, and finally supported in technological and regulatory questions.

MyData Clinic helps to create better understanding of the MyData transformation opportunities, and creates abilities to develop solutions that enable sharing, receiving and combining data from different sources in a novel way as part of future wellbeing and healthcare services. Clinic concept has been tested with real use cases with companies, public and private healthcare providers.

MyData based user interfaces and visualizations

User research, user interface design and service design are essential when developing new MyData business. Digital Health Revolution project participants have implemented various concepts, designs and demos to illustrate what kind of MyData applications and products we could have, and how MyData could be visualized. For example, dual-sided tablet for doctor-patient interaction, “Niklas”, mobile app for a teenager with ice-hockey hobby, and future dentist concepts have been created. Digital Health Revolution researchers are also developing user interfaces and visualizations for concrete use, including health data dashboard which is running in Digital Health Revolution pilot.

EFFECTS On society

Creating human centric MyData service ecosystem will have broad benefits to the society such as parallel development of digital rights, innovation and business growth. By improving MyData consciousness among policy makers, businesses driven by data economy and health care providers Digital Health Revolution is taking the first steps towards societal change.

Digital Health Revolution consortium participated in building a nationally remarkable healthcare digitalization and re-orientation strategy. The MyData principles have been considered in national strategies, namely ICT2015 (by Ministry of Employment and the Economy) and Secondary Use of Own Health Related Data (by Ministry of Social Affairs and Health). In addition, MyData principles have been successfully included in one of the spearheads (Digitalization of public services) of the Finnish Government Programme 2015.
